Beware the Dark Side

If you only knew the power of the Dark Side. – Darth Vader
This month’s comic, “Beware the Dark Side”, deals with those SEO companies that are less than straight forward, and how nice it would be if they were. We always do our best to keep everything we do white hat ā we’re always honest with our clients, don’t engage in any unscrupulous practices, and make no secret about how we go about getting rankings for our clients. That being said, not every SEO company is as honest.
When selecting an SEO company, don’t forget to ask about their methods, get some references, and check them out online to see if anybody has complained about them. A little research can help make sure that you end up with a company wearing a white hat and not one wearing a black hat.

Nicely done… I think the biggest problem with black hat is how they often fail to inform their clients of the risk these practises can put their businesses in
I love this one. I did one that is similar. There is a lot of room of comedy with the white hat / black hat topic. Check it out: http://www.webdesignercomic.com/black-seo-hat-13.htm. Keep the comics coming!
haha, that’s funny.
Very sharp and funny comic, I like the idea of letting your clients know upfront the risks that are involved and making them aware and educated about SEO. My philosophy is the more your clients know about what your methodology, the more opportunities they will realize for future SEO practices.
I’m posting this one on my blog and provide a link back.
Thats pretty good.
How (exactly) do you know, if you are “white hat” or “black hat”?
being very new to computer use at all this is not a stupid question, rather, one I really need the answer to.
thanks, Dave
P.S. I’ve bookmarked this page to see if you give me an answer.
How do you know if you are white hat or black hat? I’m sure if you ask 10 people you’ll get 10 answers. Here is an answer we gave on our SEO site, with links to support our thoughts. What is Black Hat SEO?
Anyone else want to answer this?
Nice work. It is a good find. The best is gray hat mix.
@Brentwood, if you’re new to using a computer, you’ve come to the right place. Ranked Hard is a resource for novices and pros alike. Of course, our parent blog, http:www.bigoakinc.com/blog has more good information as well.
hahah, very funny!
Love the comic there – and it’s so true.

Page rank is a major factor for any website . But we should be careful about how we increase our page rank . we can black hat way or white hat way . The search engine friendly website is white hat way . we should rather consider this white hat way .
Nice SEO comic
This is a great comic. We have clients ask all the time why it is that we CAN NOT do certain things when it comes to getting them a higher page rank. This is being printed out and given to everyone in my office!
Be aware that only the first link to a specific page counts. So if the page you’re linking to already is present in the navigation (and the navigation comes first in the HTML), then the link and link-text won’t count.
